Product Description
Belly fat is not only unsightly, it's deadly; it has been linked to a long list of adverse health conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and breast cancer. Prevention's Flat Belly Diet, a revolutionary plan that's already helped more than one million people lose weight around their middles, may help target dangerous belly fat with monounsaturated fats (better known as MUFAs)—found in delicious foods like nuts and seeds, vegetable oils, olives, avocados, and dark chocolate.
"The food...tastes so good, and there's so much of it!"
On the Flat Belly Diet, it's important to enjoy these foods, in the right amounts, with every meal. The Flat Belly Diet! Cookbook makes that easy. All of the recipes were carefully developed to make sure every meal includes just the right amount of MUFAs and meets the plan's 400-calorie guideline, so readers can mix and match meals to suit their taste. And there's no need to count calories. All the work has already been done!
"I had to get over all those years of denying myself.... I'm so excited by this diet."
Packed with 200 dishes that feature these scrumptious fat-fighting MUFA-rich foods, as well as more than 50 lush photographs, this book gives readers plenty to whet their appetites:
-Great-to-wake-up-to dishes like Banana Pancakes with Walnut Honey and Eggs Florentine with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto
-International favorites like Thai Corn and Crab Soup and Caribbean Chicken Salad
-Cozy comfort food like Spaghetti with Roasted Cauliflower and Olives and Turkey Meat Loaf with Walnuts and Sage
-Quick, satisfying snacks like Tex-Mex Snack Mix, Peanut Butter Spirals, and Nutty Chicken Nuggets
-Sweet treats like Super-Rich Chocolate Cake with Maple Frosting and Peach and Blueberry Tart with Pecan Crust

5 out of 5 stars Lots of variety   August 8, 2010
artsy
We've used this cookbook for nearly two months now, and we've been very pleased with all the meals. In fact, we could probably use this book for a year and not duplicate meals more than once or twice. That's how many variations and additions there are to each and every recipe. I like that most of them are for four people. I just cut them in half or use the extras for lunches the next day. It's easy and fun to use, and everyone can help with the chopping, slicing, and dicing of the ingredients. It's the tastiest way we've found to lose weight.

This is not too restrictive a diet. More of a lifestyle. The recipes are tasty and IT WORKS. I bought another book as a gift. The paperback companion is great for eating out.

4 out of 5 stars Great recipes   July 21, 2010

I'm not a diet person, but i'm always on the look out for new recipes and thought this book with it's yummy lemon cupcake on the cover would be perfect to help in changing my way of eating. I was pleasantly surprised by how filling the servings were although not very large. I was also very impressed by the taste of the food and how often you can incorporate vegetable fats in everyday cooking. Overall very happy with the book.

5 out of 5 stars Great diet/lifestyle that works!   July 14, 2010

My husband and I have been on the diet since April, and we really do love it! My husband has lost about 23 pounds, mostly in his waist, and he looks great; I have lost about 8 pounds total (but I am a cheater). A friend of ours lost about 30 pounds over four months, and he told us about the diet originally. People have commented on how good we both look, which is always nice. A girlfriend of mine and her hhusband both lost a good amount of weight also; I think he lost 15 pounds and she lost about 7 in about two months. We started out with the pocket guide and the men's edition of the book, and since then we have also bought the regular cookbook and the family cookbook. I have to say that just about every recipe I try is really tasty. I have made everything from the tuna tacos in the men's book to the peanut butter cookies and chocolate zucchini bread in the family cookbook, and we have not been disappointed with anything. Of course, it does require some preparation on my part, so I make a list of the recipes I would like to try for the week, and then I make a shopping list. For lunch, wraps with peanut butter and cranberries, or hummus and turkey, are great staples, and for breakfast I love the cranberry-pecan scones in the regular cookbook, or just cereal with sunflower seeds in the pocket guide. We have now gotten into a groove and make about 15 recipes regularly, alhtough I try to throw in one new recipe a week. The portions for dinner are usually made for four, so sometimes my husband and I have the same dinner twice in one week. We just portion it out right when we make it, and then we have dinner ready for another day. Buy yourself a food scale to weigh meats and pasta; we bought one at Target, and this has really helped us determine what 3 ounces of turkey looks like, etc.

4 out of 5 stars Fun ancillary to the Flat Belly Diet   July 9, 2010

Although not a necessity by any means, this cookbook is a nice compliment to the Flat Bally (lifestyles) Diet. FOr those with culinary challenges or who ar completely changing their way of cooking/eating, this book gives a lot of good, easy ideas for healthful eating.
