Both the lid and colander are removable for easy cleaning. The clear plastic bowl keeps the salad crisp and clean until ready to serve. This salad spinner stores on the countertop or in the frigde easily. It can be used to clean vegetables, fruits, berries and herbs. Pull the cord gently when using it with berries to retain the shape. Pull string retracts into the lid to avoid unnecessary tangling of the cord. I use to dry my lettuce with a paper towel. This thing is AWESOME!!! It is great for berries too:)

This salad spinner is far superior to the OXO that I have had for years - it really does drain the lettuce better. I think this is because - as others have posted - it goes faster and in both directions, and the simpler mechanism seems less likely to have problems, because no springs, etc.
My only improvement suggestions - and I do hope the manufacturer is reading - is that it needs some rubber feet on the bottom, and a better way to hold it stationary (i.e., an actual handle) on top.

My mother had given me a spinner before and it was horrible. It made me wonder if all spinners were like that, but alas, I have found a great one! This product is big enough to dry about 2 heads of chopped romaine hearts. It spins the water out instantly. Afterwards, I store the salad in the container and place it directly in the fridge. The bowl itself isn't made of super tough plastic, but it works for me for the price. Very pleased and would recommend.
