The picture you see is not what you get. In correspondence with the seller they advise that if you carefully review the text you note that you only get a hot pack. No cold pack is included. They made every effort to blame me when they are the ones who are using a picture that misrepresents their product. When that failed they blamed Amazon. This company is a model of what not to do in internet sales.

The picture shows both the hot and cold pac replacements for the Pyrex portable casserole carrier. I mistakenly thought I would receive both. However, I received only the hot pac. By the time shipping was included the one pack cost nearly $25.00. For another $10.00 I could have purchased the entire portable carrier with dish, lid and including both the hot and cold pacs. The hot pac is fine - just not exactly as I expected.

I love these packets. I use them in my insulated carrier to keep food warm and also use them to keep neckwraps warm when my friends and I have a home spa treatment. I also put a hot packet in the insulated carrier to take to a football game and put it in my football seat cushion just before the game on a cold day. I cover my lap and legs with a fleece blanket during the game and the packet w/blanket keeps me toasty during the whole game.

I have used my insulated food carrier for over 15 years, so I guess last night's explosion in my microwave can't really be considered a serious problem. In fact, I love this system and use it very often. The heated core really keeps a hot casserole hot for quite a long time. However, beware - when it overheats, first the cover puffs up alarmingly. I've observed this several times in the past. Last night, however, multitasking (like getting dressed to go to the party I'd made the lasagne for) caused disaster in the form of an exploded cover. I have heated it that length of time dozens of times, but maybe the cover eventually gets weaker? At any rate, try to keep your eye on it when you are heating the core - if it puffs, turn the microwave off immediately and remove the core. On the really plus side - there was absolutely no mess in my oven, and I went ahead and used the heated element to keep my lasagne warm last night!
