Amazon.com Review
Coffee drinkers have their automatic brewers, why shouldn't tea drinkers? Ideal for family gatherings or summer picnics, this ingenious Hamilton Beach machine brews up a pitcher full of iced tea in less than ten minutes. After the pitcher is filled with ice cubes, tea (either loose or bags) is placed in the special paperless filter, and an adjustment for mild, medium, or strong brewing is selected. The lid snaps on. A receptacle slides out from underneath the heating unit which then holds the pitcher snugly in place. Water is added to the heating unit, the power button pushed, and the hot water drips through the tea filter into the pitcher of ice. When brewing is complete, the power automatically shuts off for safety. Complete directions for use are embossed on the slide-out receptacle, which eliminates worries about losing a user guide. Although the iced tea maker looks bulky when assembled, the pitcher inverts snugly over the heating unit for compact storage. Able to fit in most refrigerator doors, the 2-quart pitcher features a hollow, comfortable handle and a thumb release for the lid, but is not dishwasher-safe. Assembled, the machine measures 17-1/2 by 11-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars Love it!!!   July 29, 2010

I am so happy I bought my iced tea maker! I have used it daily since I purchased it and actually have a pitcher of decaf and regular in my fridge at all times now. This tea maker is great because it allows you to use bags or loose tea, which I have an abundance of. I'm still playing around with it, trying to figure out the right quantity of tea to use to get the perfect pot, though. Rather than putting ice in the pitcher, I started following another reviewer's advice: I make one batch, allow it to sit for about 3 minutes, then run another batch (using the same tea bags - just add another quart of water to the reservoir). I also add a pinch of baking soda to the tea chamber - read somewhere that it helps cut down on bitterness - & I'm pretty sure it works :)

5 out of 5 stars Works great, and it's super-easy   July 28, 2010

I've been trying to drink less soda, which has been my main source of caffeine (which I'm not ready to give up quite yet). So, I decided to make iced tea. I did it the old fashioned way for a while (in a big pot on the stove, etc.), but that was kind of annoying. Then my sister told me that there's such a thing as a tea-maker! I was astonished. So, I visited Amazon.com, read user comments, and purchased this Hamilton Beach machine.

I love it!

I take a big, quart-and-a-half Nalgene bottle to work every day, and since this machine makes about 2 quarts of tea at a time, I have enough to fill my bottle and a generous glass to spare.

I like my tea sweetened, and this machine doesn't really provide any easy way to add sugar during the brewing process. So, being a tad lazy, I purchased a case (4 bottles) of Monin pure cane sugar syrup and one of those push-down spouts (if you buy a case from the Monin website, shipping is free). I add 8-10 shots of the syrup to my 1.5 quart bottle, and that's perfect for me.

I highly recommend this machine for folks who want a quick and easy tea-making experience.

The Hamilton Beach 2 Qt Iced Tea Maker is wonderful. Wish I had found it long ago. Makes the freshest & clearest tea however you like it in such
a short time, & so simple & easy to refrigerate the rest for later. It's 5 stars in my book. I love it!!!

My husband gave me the Hamilton Beach 40911 2 qt. Electric Iced Tea Maker a month ago. We'd read about it on Mary Hunt's Everyday Cheapskate daily email. It brews tea quickly, the pitcher stores it well, and the tea tastes great. We've enjoyed several pitchers of tea, and we agree with Mary Hunt's rave reviews.

Would definitely recommend it, highly recommend it to everybody.
