I admit, i am not so great a reading instructions. Every time I read them, I fall asleep. But i still haven't been able to use my handy prep. the cord is too short so it doesn't reach across my stove to the work table. My other plug is on the floor in front of the counter and the cord isn't long enough to reach from the floor to the counter. So i tried preparing food on the floor, crawling around. But i still can't get it to work. It's my first time to try a food processor. I've heard so many great things. However, with the short cord, and my inability to even get it to turn on, it is all too disappointing for me. I get so angry that they couldn't make a cord long enough to be useful. I feel like it's a mean trick. I'm going to get a nice grater instead. I can use a grater on the counter without having to buy an extension cord.

When I bought this in April I thought this was the greatest tool. However, I have owned it for only 2 1/2 months (only used it about 4 times) and now it no longer works at all. Also, I just learned that it is already outside of the return window....Don't waste your money. This cost about $15 per use (short duration).

I just love this processor. What I love about it most of all is how QUIET it is. The one I had before sounded like a drill or something. This one is beautiful. It processes quickly, and I can even make my salad dressing in it. I bought the 11cup processor about a year ago, then bought this for the office kitchen. It's perfect for all those little bits of things that you don't want to chop by hand. It can even do 1 clove of garlic! I tried it! Fabulous product! I haven't used all the other blades, but I love it!

Got this great little processor and liked it so much got one for my mom. The bonus shredder/slicer is awesome! easy to clean, does a ton of work in my kitchen.

I'm kind of surprised by all the 5-star reviews this item has received. For me, the device is average, as it performs about the same as any other food processor does. I actually preferred my previous food processor - a Sunbeam Oskar. It was simpler to use and had fewer parts.
I guess the Cuisinart looks more impressive sitting on your counter, but I wouldn't call it easy to use. There are so many parts to look for, then attach, then clean afterwards. It's not easy to attach the main bowl to the base (primarily because of safety features). This is a compact model, so the bowl is smaller than the normal-sized Cuisinart. The problem with this small bowl is that you have to cut food into smaller pieces so it fits inside the bowl, which begs the question... if you already have the knife out, why not just cut things with the knife instead of dragging out all these pieces of equipment?
It doesn't do a very good job of chopping something like an onion; you have to be very careful, or it turns into onion mush at the bottom near the blade, with large pieces further up. In my opinion, you should spend a little more and get the 7-cup Cuisinart as the bowl is a more usable size, and results would be superior. Using the chute attachment makes sense if you are chopping or slicing things for cole slaw.
Finally, I've used a few different brands of food processors, and there's not a whole lot of difference between them. Don't be swayed too much by the "prestige" of a brand. This is a device that you probably won't end up using that much, so no need to spend a lot of money on one.
