My husband and I highly recommend this machine! You can't find better for this price -- or any price -- we think. You will not regret it; the frothy crema it makes is wonderful. You will need to buy shot glasses and the ones Amazon recommends (the Bodum ones), as well as the tamper, were an excellent choice. We can't believe we have lived without this machine. It makes better espressos than most coffee shops we frequent.

I have used this product about a dozen times now. I use it exclusively with pods for ease of cleaning. It is very easy to use and makes very good espresso. It heats up very rapidly and the frothing wand works well.

I bought this machine for my boyfriend as a birthday suprise. I worked in a coffee house for awhile and read all the reviews on this product. Everyone who gave it a good review is 100% correct. It is a great at home product for beginners. There are some problems:
1. The espresso does not come out as hot as industrial machines.
(solution: warm your cup)
2. The wand is awakard when steaming milk.
(solution: use a very small carafe)
3. Do not expect to get a decent crema (once again this is an at home machine not industrial)
(solution: use common sense when understanding the limitations of the machine)

I have the EC155 at work and the more expensive EC270 at home. The EC155 is definitely superior: It makes good espresso, it's fairly quiet, it's cheaper, and it's easy to use. More importantly, it doesn't have any of the flaws that the EC270 has (leaky water tank, noisy pump, awkward drip tray, etc.). The EC155 isn't as pretty as some other machines, and you can't fit tall cups under the filter, but overall I'm very happy with it and might end up replacing my EC270 with one.

I bought this machine over three years ago as my first espresso machine. It has been great. I use it almost every day. After about 3.5 years, it now leaks excessively out the steam wand. I took it apart about 4 months ago and cleaned inside and tightened things down. It helped for awhile, but now time for a new one.
I looked at getting a more expensive one, but the only additional feature I would like is a timer to turn on the burner before I wake up. It does take a good 15 minutes to get nice and hot.
Regarding the low steam wand, I just tip it a little when using my frothing pitcher. It's light, so no big deal. For single lattes, I just use a standard ceramic coffee cup for my frothing, then I don't have to use more milk than I need.
Note,I usually use ESE pods, not ground-and-tamped, so the tamper limitations don't bother me.
After comparison shopping again, I will buy another. Can't beat the price, I could buy a new one every 4 years and still be ahead of the fancy $400 machines with no operational added features.
