The strong magnetic strip within the knife bar holds each knife securely on the bar. When removing the knife from the bar, twist the blade gently against the edge and the blade will be released from the bar. Your mounting hardware is included. Remove the black end caps to insert the screws into the wall. Wipe clean with a damp cloth if necessary. Not recommended for the dishwasher.

I would definitely order this item again, or recommend it to a friend.
A couple of comments that might save you some grief:
1) I originally mounted it vertically, thinking I would save some wall space. The magnet wasn't strong enough to keep some of my heavier knives in the horizontal position; they would rotate until they touched the next knife down. Not an attractive way to display your knives, and potentially hazardous. So, I had to reinstall it horizontally and repair the holes in my wall. Mounted horizontally (with the knives attached vertically), it works great for me. Depending on the kind of metal that your knives are made of, it may or may not work for you mounted vertically.
2) As others have mentioned, get some heftier wall anchors than what comes with it. The puny little mounting anchors that ship with it do not inspire trust, especially if you have some heavy knives.
Neither of these comments would keep me from giving it five stars, it's good stuff. Just give careful consideration to where you're going to mount it. If your knives are like mine, they're heavy and sharp. If you have small children or frisky cats, put it somewhere that they're not likely to get to it.
Make sure that you know how to attach the holder securely, or find someone that does. You'll be happy.

Don't be cheap and try to save a fews dollars on a less expensive holder. This thing is great. I've looked at others in the stores and they can't touch this one. on top of working great it also looks great in my kitchen.

Some magnetic knife holders aren't strong enough and your knives droop, some are too strong and rip the knife out of your hands, but this one is just right. It also looks great and comes with mounting screws. You can't go wrong with this product.

1st off, if you've got the space, I say go for the 20" one. This piece is very stunning! We mounted it on our stone tile backsplash and it looks fantastic! Easy to put up and we are still getting compliments about it!

I'm very impressed with this magnet to hold the knives but their were no instructions to put this on the wall and I'm pretty good with drills and a hammer but after I got the screws in the wall they are not even close to what you need to attach this to the wall. They are not what should even be with this item. So once you get this item be prepared to take it to the store to get the right screws to attach it to the wall.
